Questions- Part 1
1.After having covered the effects of globalization in your Social Studies, what do you think is the message of this pop song?
2. Analyse each stanza and the chorus and explain what the songwriter is trying to convey to the listener.
Thoughts about the song
After we are being covered globalization, I feel that the message of the song is to tell us that as the world globalize, mother earth is suffering as trees, grass patches are being cut down for infrastructures.
Analysis
Stanza 1: Trees are being cut down; land is being used, to build car parks, hotels and also shopping malls and while people are enjoying and earning lots of money, mother earth is suffering.
Stanza 2: Trees are again being cut down, for the sake of “preserving” the environment, and people have to pay for the entrance fee.
Stanza 3: The writer is telling us that we should not cut down trees and should let nature take its course, as when some things are suppose to go, they will go and if they are suppose to stay, they will stay.
Stanza 4: I think the writer refer the old man to the old trees and when everyone is sound asleep, they will start work and clear the trees without anyone realizing.
Chorus: I think the chorus is trying to say that people will only realize the importance of the things when they are missing and not when they are present.
Questions- Part 2

Answers
1. Globalization is taking place very quickly, causing lots of natural resources being used up very quickly.
2. No, there are no real life characters in the song.
3. Yes, there are symbols.
Tree Museum – places for people to observe nature
Big Yellow Taxi – machines that cut down trees
Old Man - trees
4. I think the song writer’s opinion is that the world has changed to somewhere that do not have natural nature but man-made ones as the world is progressing too quickly.
5. Yes, the song is biased.
No, the songwriter did not take any sides.
The songwriter is always taking about the nature and that how the nature had been destroyed.
6. The song writer is trying to tell everyone that we should take care of our only 1 mother earth and not to let it suffer because of 1 globalization. The songwriter wrote in this manner because the world is progressing too quickly.
Compose an essay about your analysis of the song in about 150 words.
The song is trying to tell us that mother earth is very important and we should protect it in whatever means we have but not let globalization taking over it as globalization is progressing too quickly.
For example the big patch of land we had outside the school last time, last time, it made no difference to our lives, but now, with all the construction of a bigger car park from the plot of land there is lots of sound pollution and also air pollution due to the people working and also the sounds made from the machines.
In the future, the car park would be filled with large sized vehicles with them expelling lots of harmful gases that cause breathing problems and air pollution which lead to acid rain.
In conclusion, we should not regret when something is lost from us but we must always make sure we try to conserve the environment. Although 1 person conserving is a small effort but with lots of person conserving, the environment can saved!

Terrorism- My thoughts
Sunday, March 2, 2008 @ 10:41 PM
Singapore is now in threat of getting bombed by the JI member, Mas Selamat Kastari. He once had a plan of hijacking SIA’s plane but it was being stopped in time.
Mas Selamat Kastari was being detained in Whitley detention centre but he managed to escape while going to the toilet. With such strong security in the detention centre, how could the JI member escape from the detention centre, when many tried to escape from there, but got caught again? Most probably he bribed the security there or there are these police members who allow him to leave as they are part of the JI team.
The JI leader escaped from the detention centre and the public are being informed after 4hours. This should not happen as the government should be concerned about the people of Singapore and tell us immediately.
From what I can recall form the talk I had 3 weeks ago, we were told to stay vigilant, so why aren’t the police informing us immediately that Mas Selamat Kastari has escaped? From what we were being told from the police, Mas Selamat Kastari has a limp, and if he ran, it would be more obvious and police should be able to nab him immediately since they do not have any limb broken, unless they are guarding the compound, walking around with the eyes closed. If not the JI member have some special power such as teleportation, where he can teleport out of the toilet.
Today is the six day, for the time Mas Selamat Kastari has escaped and he has not been found. Yesterday, 2nd March 2008 the government has set up at private investigation team where they will investigate the escape of the JI member. The search has been spread to almost the whole of Singapore where the police are using their police dogs to search for the JI member and those telecommunications are also help….. to be continued
